Goodreads: After decades of adventuring, Viv the orc barbarian is finally hanging up her sword for good. Now she sets her sights on a new dream – for she plans to open the first coffee shop in the city of Thune. Even though no one there knows what coffee actually is.

If Viv wants to put the past behind her, she can’t go it alone. And help might arrive from unexpected quarters. Yet old rivals and new stand in the way of success. And Thune’s shady underbelly could make it all too easy for Viv to take up the blade once more.

But the true reward of the uncharted path is the travellers you meet along the way. Whether bound by ancient magic, delicious pastries or a freshly brewed cup, they may become something deeper than Viv ever could have imagined.

I have never read anything quite like this before! I saw someone describe it as a cosy fantasy read and that fits perfectly for this book. I didn't know what to expect when I first start reading it and it truly blew me away with how magical it is.

Viv is a retired orc barbarian who decides she wants to open up a coffee shop in a city that has never heard of it. I don't even like coffee but the way Baldree describes it, it makes me immediately want to rush out to the nearest cafe and experience it the way every customer in this book does!

I loved the characters in this book, especially Viv, Tandri who also works in the shop and Thimble who becomes the baker of all sweet treats. Each character has their own personality and the development of friendship and love is a huge part of this story.

From start to finish I felt like I was being wrapped up in a big hug and although there was a little bit of tension in the middle, you can't help but feel perfectly content and I never wanted it to end. This is a wholesome book and is the ideal light fantasy read that you should definitely check out to escape reality for a little while!
